Terms of Service

1. What you are buying

DutyRank is an independent study product operated by Northpine Labs LLC, covering the civil-service exams listed on our pricing page. Access is a one-time purchase of $49 that grants you 12 months of access to every exam on the site, including any exam we add while your access runs. There is no per-exam upgrade. This is not a subscription: there is no recurring charge and nothing auto-renews.

Your payment is processed by Stripe, our payment provider. The seller is Northpine Labs LLC, and the charge on your card statement will reference our store. Any applicable sales tax or VAT is calculated and added at checkout.

2. Refunds — the 14-day window

You may cancel your purchase for any reason within 14 days of the date of purchase and receive a full refund. No conditions attach to this: it does not matter whether you have used the product, completed any part of it, or sat an exam, and you do not have to give a reason.

Request it by emailing [email protected] or through the form at /refunds. Approved refunds are processed to your original payment method. Access ends when the refund is issued.

This window is in addition to the pass guarantee in Section 3, which continues to apply after it closes.

3. The pass guarantee — refund conditions

Separately from the 14-day window above, and for as long as your pass runs, we offer a full refund if you do the work and still do not pass. The conditions are measured against one exam of your choosing among those covered by your pass — the one you sat. All of the following must be true:

• You completed at least 80% of the study plan generated for that exam before your exam date; and
• You finished every full-length mock exam we offer for that exam before your exam date; and
• You did not pass that exam.

Your pass is a single purchase, so the refund is of that single purchase and can be claimed once. Preparing for more than one exam does not create more than one refund.

If you meet those conditions, you may request a full refund through the self-serve form at /refunds within 60 days of receiving your official results. Approved refunds are processed to your original payment method. Completion of the plan and mocks is measured from your activity in the product.

4. Your account

Your access is for you alone. You may not share, sell, or transfer your account or login, and you may not provide access to people who have not purchased it. We may suspend accounts that appear to be shared.

5. Content and acceptable use

All questions, explanations, lessons, and other materials are original works owned by DutyRank and protected by copyright. You may use them for your own personal exam preparation. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or publish our content, and you may not scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract it or to create a competing product.

6. Independent product; no guarantee of a specific score

An independent study product. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government agency, including the New York State Unified Court System, the Office of Court Administration, the New York City Police Department, or the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services. Our practice materials are original and calibrated to public, official sources; they are not real exam questions and are not a prediction of actual exam content. Aside from the refund described in Section 3, we do not guarantee any particular score or outcome.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from them will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue there.
