Exam notices can change between editions. This log documents 6 substantive comparisons across 5 title lines, with the old wording, the new wording and a link to each source. Check the exam number before using a change: a successor exam does not amend the previous exam.
A dated record, not an application calendar. Earlier rules and closed filing periods appear below so you can check what changed.
The most consequential change first, then by when each change was detected. This log was first published on .
- Police Officer — edition posted under 7313
The edition posted under 7313 raises the maximum age for appointment from under 35 to under 43, now measured on the date of filing, and cuts the military deduction from seven to six years.
- School Safety Agent 7324 vs 7323
The next School Safety Agent exam has its own filing and testing dates and a higher fingerprint screening fee.
- Police Officer — edition posted under 7314
The edition posted under 7314 increases the fingerprint screening fee and moves the start of exam 7322’s testing period to July 6, 2027.
These are the newest editions compared here, not a complete list of currently open exams. Source copies were checked on .

Compared with the previous exam for this title.
The next School Safety Agent exam has its own filing and testing dates and a higher fingerprint screening fee.[8][9]
Before: School Safety Agent 7323 — previous exam.
After: School Safety Agent 7324 — successor exam.
The current requirements for this title: School Safety Agent requirements.
| Section | Before | After | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fingerprint screening fee | to pay a $75.00 fee for fingerprint screening.Page 5[8] | to pay a $82.75 fee for fingerprint screening.Page 5[9] | The later exam quotes a higher fingerprint screening fee at investigation. This is separate from the examination application fee. |
| Expected testing start — successor exam | Multiple-choice testing is expected to begin on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.Page 1[8] | Multiple-choice testing is expected to begin on Tuesday, January 19, 2027.Page 1[9] | These are separate exam numbers. The January start belongs to exam 7324; it does not reschedule exam 7323. |
| Filing closes — successor exam | August 25, 2026Page 1[8] | November 25, 2026Page 1[9] | The later filing deadline belongs to exam 7324. It does not reopen filing for exam 7323. |
| Education deadline — successor exam | the education requirement needed to qualify must be met by August 25, 2027.Page 1[8] | the education requirement needed to qualify must be met by November 25, 2027.Page 1[9] | Each exam number sets its own education deadline: August 25, 2027 for exam 7323 and November 25, 2027 for exam 7324. |
The earlier exam’s notice, 7323, also ties an experience requirement to the last filing day. That sentence is absent from the notice for the successor exam, 7324, which keeps the education deadline. This deletion alone does not establish a new experience requirement or an exemption; check the full Education and Experience Requirements in the notice for your exam.[8][9]

| Maximum age and reference date | less than 35 years of age on the first date of the application periodPage 2[1] | less than 43 years of age on the date of filing an applicationPage 2[2] | The maximum-age test changes both its threshold and its reference date: the newer edition uses the candidate’s filing date rather than the first day of the application period. |
| Qualifying military-service deduction | the total deduction for military duty does not exceed seven years.Page 2[1] | you may deduct up to six yearsPage 2[2] | The maximum deduction changes from seven to six years. Read the newer edition’s full Age Requirement to check which service qualifies. |

Only persons who are less than 43 years of agePage 2[2] | The earlier edition warned that a candidate still too young for appointment when the list ends loses the chance of appointment from it. The newer edition does not contain that sentence; its minimum appointment age, 20 years and 6 months, is the same in both editions. The log does not infer why the sentence was removed. |
| Legal basis for the military deduction | military duty as defined in Section 243 of the New York Military LawPage 2[1] | in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law Section 58 and NYC Administrative Code Section 14-109.Page 2[2] | The newer edition cites a different legal basis for the military-service deduction: Civil Service Law §58 and Administrative Code §14-109 instead of Military Law §243. - Check agency notice pages and scheduled successor numbers. The review checklist calls for a monthly check; this is a manually reviewed log, not a real-time alert service.
- Retain the exact PDF internally, record its retrieval date and fingerprint, and compare its extracted text with the prior archived edition.
- Review each changed passage in context. Classify requirements, fees, deadlines, testing and required documents as substantive. Keep useful wording clarifications separate; omit layout and typo-only changes.
- Publish short, contiguous quotations with page references and a stable link. Update an entry’s date only when its content changes.
The review scope is the 11 title lines in DutyRank’s exam registry. Only 5 currently have verified comparisons in this log. A missing entry does not mean a notice stayed unchanged. We include successor exams as a separate comparison type and do not infer why an agency changed its wording.
“Detected” is the earliest documented observation in our research. “Retrieved” identifies when a copy entered our archive. “PDF created” comes from document metadata and can predate an amendment. Neither is a reliable agency publication timestamp. A source check does not reset the page’s update date.
Each before/after quotation is checked against its own PDF extraction and limited to 30 words. Archived PDFs are retained for verification and are not republished here. Where an existing Wayback snapshot could be verified, it is linked; otherwise the original link and checksum are the available provenance.
Open the Atom feed or copy its address into a feed reader. It contains substantive changes only, with stable links to the comparisons. On first subscription, a reader may show historical entries together; their detection dates remain visible.
Each note links to the original publisher. Page and rule references help you find the evidence. Archive details identify the exact copy checked; archived documents are not republished here.

Added the Police Communications Technician 7307 vs 6329 comparison; added two Police Officer 7313 rows (the removed too-young-at-list-end sentence and the new legal basis for the military deduction) with the age figures in its summary; named editions by the exam number they were posted under; listed the most consequential change first; showed both School Safety Agent education dates without inference; noted that the Conductor date has passed.
Published verified comparisons for Police Officer, School Safety Agent, Conductor and Special Officer (NYC H+H), plus a substantive-change Atom feed.
