The job through the abilities the notice tests
Deductive reasoning is illustrated by assigning tasks and jobs and determining which can be assigned to whom — so a working knowledge of classification and clearance is daily material, not background.
Information ordering is illustrated by reporting for roll call ready to receive work assignment orders. Problem sensitivity is illustrated by observing behaviour, conduct and activities to verify compliance. Written comprehension is illustrated by interpreting policies and regulations and carrying out procedures based on them.
Read together, those describe a job of applying written rules to specific people under time pressure, and recording what you did.
Why the paperwork carries the weight it does
Three of the eleven abilities point at reading and writing rather than at acting: written comprehension, written expression and information ordering. Written expression is illustrated simply as writing reports using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
The reason is that a great deal of the work exists to produce a record which will still be legible and defensible months later, to people who were not there. A count, a tool account, a use of force report and a log entry are all documents before they are anything else.
Arithmetic is genuinely part of the job
This is the only title covered here whose notice tests arithmetic, and the worked examples show why. Number facility is illustrated by compiling and verifying data such as coordinating the distribution of special meals to different facilities; mathematical reasoning by calculating an average across tours.
Counts, meal distributions, tool accounts and vehicle logs are all quantities that have to add up, and a facility runs on them being right the first time.
